Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang district, at the east of China. The city and the prefecture is located in the northwest of the district, on the Qiantang River.

Hangzhou is also well-known for its beautiful natural scenery, with the West Lake as the most noteworthy location, as well as the tea plantations in the region.
